  • The IPM is a five-day agricultural celebration featuring plowing, a wide range of performers and live music acts, displays, demonstrations, education and much more.
  • Popular attractions will include the RAM Rodeo Tour, Team Farmall Dancing Tractors, Auctioneers’ Challenge, the Canadian Cowgirls Precision Drill Team and music acts such as the Canadian Celtic rock favourites MUDMEN.

    Features and Entertainment at the Match

  • This year there will be several Guinness World Record attempts, including Largest Egg and Spoon Race and Largest Sugar Cube Structure.
  • The BMO Plowing Competition – See competitors from throughout North America in the walking and sulky horse classes, the antique classes and the conventional and reversible classes.
  • The Ontario Queen of the Furrow competition, presented by Ontario Mutuals – competitors from across Ontario will show off their agricultural knowledge and abilities as they vie for the honour of becoming the 2018-2019 Ontario Queen of the Furrow.
  • Hydro One Education Centres –  Stop in and speak to producers and interact with animals as you learn about all things ag.
  • Throughout Tented City there will be 500+ exhibitors showcasing the latest in farm equipment & farm supplies and home & rural living improvements, community services, housewares and apparel, artisans … and many food vendors with a wide range of menus.
  • Don’t miss the “Farming for the Future” tent, as well as the scale model “Enviro Farm.” The Lifestyles and Quilts Tents and the Antiques and Historical Area are other must-sees in Tented City.
  • You’re sure to enjoy the many traditional favourites and new additions that will be featured during the 2018 IPM. There’s more than a little something for everyone to enjoy! With so much to see and do, plan to spend more than a day.

Request for Equipment for World Competitors

The United States Plowing Organization is looking for Competitive Plows and Tractors for the 2019 World Plowing Championships in Baudette Minnesota August 30 and 31, 2019. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the World Plowing Championships as it returns to North America and isn’t scheduled to return for a couple of decades.

Plans are being worked on to connect World Competitors with needed equipment. Questions regarding logistics, etc., will be developed over the next few months. There will be a North American Challenge Match for those that have provided their equipment that will happen after the competition. Find out more here


2017 World Ploughing - Tom Evans and Jay Lennox

Congratulations to Tom Evans and Jay Lennox—You’ve Made Canada Proud!

The 2017 World Ploughing Championship was held December 1 – 2 in Kenya. Our representatives from Canada were Jay Lennox (from Grey Normanby Plowmen’s) and Tom Evans (from Bruce County Plowmen’s).

Jay placed 10th in stubble land and 12th in sod land—and overall 11th in the Conventional Category.

Tom placed 13th in stubble land and 2nd in sod land (silver medal)—and overall 8th in the Reversible Category. (The last medal brought back to Canada was in 1976.)

On behalf of Ontario’s Plowing Family, OPA congratulates Tom and Jay on their achievements in Kenya!

 


Congratulations to Bob Timbers of the Durham Plowmen’s Association!

The Ontario Plowmen’s Association (OPA) is pleased to share news that Robert Timbers has been honoured with an “Honorary Life Membership of the World Ploughing Organization” at the 2017 World Ploughing Championship in Kenya. Bob has been involved at the World level for 64 years.

Bob’s contributions to the art of plowing are vast and include being a long-time member of OPA, OPA President in 1969, as well as a Plowing Competitor at Branch Matches and the IPM, a Plowing Judge and an Honourary Director of OPA.

As a competitor, Bob has represented Canada at the World Ploughing Championship in the Conventional Category four times (1953, 1954, 1956, 1960). Bob was also very involved in the creation of the Canadian Plowing Organization (CPO) and the World Ploughing Organization (WPO). He has sat on the CPO Board of Directors and been Chair/President of the WPO.

On behalf of Ontario’s Plowing Family, OPA extends congratulations and best wishes to Bob.
