GE Viewers’ Choice -
The Flea Market Quilt was the fan favourite at the IPM Autumn Splendor Quilt Show held this past week end at the Finch arena. The viewers’ choice award is selected by visitors at the show. Entered in a group category, the quilt was made by Darlene Rodger and quilted by Diane Carson of Zurich, Ontario. From left is Jim Brownell, Chair of the IPM 2015, Laura Price, Ontario Queen of the Furrow, and Monique Wilson, IPM Quilt Show/Committee Chair.

Rory-Dawn Kameka of Cornwall, a participant in the youth quilting category, was the very happy winner of a new Janome sewing machine at the IPM Autumn Splendour Quilt Show this past weekend in Finch. Sponsored by Giroux Sewing Centre of Cornwall and St. Bernard’s Catholic Women’s League in Finch, all youth entries in the show were entered in the draw. Taught to sew and quilt by her two grandmothers, the grade 7 student at CCVS didn’t have her own sewing machine and is looking forward to lots of new projects. Sharon Shaver of Dunbar took home several ribbons for her quilts at the IPM Autumn Splendour Quilt Show this past weekend in Finch. A member of the Upper Canada Quilt Guild, Sharon is also an employee of Upper Canada Village and was one of two village quilters demonstrating the proper care of antique and vintage quilts. This pieced Lone Star wall hanging has an IPM-inspired, hand appliquéd sunflower and was made from Civil War era reproduced fabric.
