Laura Price is the 2014-2015 Ontario Queen of the Furrow

Laura, from Simcoe County, was crowned Thursday evening at the Queen of the Furrow Banquet. First Runner up was Jennifer Vanden Ouweland from Lambton County and Second Runner Up was Fabienne Kagi from Stormont County. Two other finalists were Morgan Roy of Frontenac Wolfe Island and Sheena Grieve of Oxford Blandford-Blenheim.

Other winners were Miss Friendship, Natasha-Lyne Roy of Temiskaming. Meghan Taylor from Northumberland County and Olivia Bolender from York Region were winners of the BMO Scholarship Special. The top 5 plowers were first, Jordan Pederson of Wellington; second, Laura Price from Simcoe; third, Bonnie Ward of Durham Region; fourth. Valerie Stone of Brant-Six Nations; fifth, Laurissa Christie of Bruce County.

Laura will spend the coming year travelling across Ontario representing the OPA and IPM 2015.

RAM Rodeo

12:00 pm in the RAM Rodeo Corral
The very popular RAM Rodeo Tour is coming back for the 2014 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo. This show is not only a crowd pleaser, but also part of the nine-event Southern Ontario RAM Rodeo series. The tour has been thrilling visitors for 15 years. The show includes bareback riding, saddler bronco riding, roping competitions, barrel racing and ladies breakaway roping. The show also features a trick riding show and rodeo clowns! Don’t miss their competitive and entertaining shows.


Team Farmall Square Dancing Tractors

11:00 am & 2:00 pm located at lot W-4
This show always brings smiles to audience’s faces with their performances. Farmall Tractors are prime for this show because of their narrowly spaced front wheels. From 1924 to 1963, Farmalls were the largest selling row crop tractors. The show was based on championship square dances used at National Farm Shows. The Team premiered their traditional square dance show at the 2008 IPM and the show has been a high demand ever since! This show is complete with 8 full size Farmall Tractors dancing to traditional square dance music and lead by a Square Dance Caller.


The Martels

3:00 pm & 4:00 pm in the Final Furrow Lounge
The crowd-pleasing Martels hail from Midland, Ontario and were first formed in 1957. They offer Rock & Roll music of the 50's and 60's. The Martels will be performing several times over the period of the Match. Come on out and dance and sing along!


Canadian Cowgirls

10:00 am in the RAM Rodeo Corral
The Canadian Cowgirls come from Chatham-Kent, Ontario. They consist of 28 women and horses, who are all tied together by the Pride of being Canadian. The Cowgirls are acclaimed for their musical performance, which dazzle audiences with their precisions riding, stunning costumes, and dangerous and daring manoeuvres.


Tailgate Talks and IPM 2014: Year of the Family Farm

Daily at 12:00 pm in the Farming 101 Tent
The United Nations have declared 2014 the “Year of the Family Farm” and what a better way to showcase this than a tent showcasing topics of special interest within the Agricultural Community. The Farming 101 tent will feature great topics all week such as Agri-Tourism, new Crops and Innovations, and Environmental Farming. Enjoy a chance to speak with the experts around the tailgates of the farm trucks. Don’t miss our centrepiece miniature family farm depicting the environmental practices of today’s farmers.
