Message from Derika Nauta, 2018-2019 Ontario Queen of the Furrow2018/2019 Ontario Queen of the Furrow Derika Nauta

(Following her crowning during the 2018 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo)

I am honoured to be the 2018-2019 Ontario Queen of the Furrow. The recent International Plowing Match and Rural Expo was such an incredible experience filled with memories I will cherish forever.

I would like to extend a big congratulations and thanks to the Chatham-Kent Committee which put on a fantastic display of Ontario’s agriculture, and to the many volunteers who dedicated their time to help run a successful Match. Also a special thank-you to the Chatham-Kent Queen’s committee which did an unbelievable job of ensuring each and every one of us felt welcomed and had an enjoyable time, as well as the Ontario Plowmen’s Association for providing this incredible opportunity to young women around Ontario. Finally, a special thank-you to the Oxford County Plowmen’s Association for supporting me throughout the year and always treating me like family.

Again, I am so honoured to be representing the Ontario Plowmen’s Association and promoting the 2019 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo to be held in Verner, Ontario. I look forward to meeting many of you at Plowing Matches throughout the province and wish you all the best during your final plows of the season.
