The Princess of the Furrow Competition will be a feature at IPM 2017. The first local Princess contest was held by Huron County Plowmen's Association in 2005. This year in Walton at IPM 2017, Branch Association Princesses from across Ontario will take part in the first competition held at the International Plowing Match & Rural Expo.

The purpose of the Princess of the Furrow Competition is to encourage girls, 12-17 years old, to take an interest in agriculture & Plowing Matches and perhaps eventually participate in the Queen of the Furrow competition.

The contestants will give a 1-2 minute speech on any topic related to agriculture, as well as experience an interview with a panel of three judges. Many competitors find the process helpful as it provides confidence needed for job interviews in the future. The contestants do not have to plow and only the top 5 give an impromptu speech.
