EDUCATION PROGRAM AT IPM 2018 - WHAT TO SEE AND DO

Welcome to Education at the IPM!

What to expect: 

  • School Groups will enter through the Education Gate Entrance (pre-registration required, no cash sale tickets available). All other visitors enter through the regular Gates.
  • Bus entrance and parking from Maple Line
  • Reception area for buses along with corral area for students arriving and leaving
  • Picnic and rest areas available by Hydro One Education area
  • Restroom facilities, including a Universal Accessible Washroom available at Hydro One Education Centre

 Activities available outside Hydro One Education Centres Tent:

  • Photo opportunity at the Large Barn Door displays
  • Crops Grown in Chatham-Kent’ display, featuring 70 different crops maturing during the event! Bilingual signage provided
  • Check out the equipment used to harvest peas provided by Bonduelle Canada
  • See how greenhouse peppers grow at the Hydroponic greenhouse provided by Nature Fresh
  • Test your reflexes at the FireFest obstacle course

Activities and displays available inside Hydro One Education Centres Tent:

  • Performances by the Agricultural Magician (2 shows daily)
  • Protect Yourself from four-wheeler rollovers and the dangers of grain silos (demonstrations)
  • Keep Yourself Safe at Home and on the Farm with Workplace Safety (Workplace Safety & Prevention Services - WSPS)
  • Live Robotics demonstrations daily
  • Learn about Greenhouse Vegetable Production, see how transplants are planted and produced
  • How does DNA affect Food Production? Participate in our Interactive DNA extraction experiment
  • Daily visits by Tobe Cobe Jr. and Captain Positivity! Learn about healthy eating and agriculture

Outside the the Hydro One Education Centres Area

  • There will also be student passports available for classes. Passport questions help students to explore other educational "hotspots" in Tented City. 

 


Journée francophone CIL 2018 / Francophone Day at IPM 2018

 

Jeudi 20 septembre / Thursday, September 20

Venez vivre l'expérience du Concours international de labour et expo rurale (CIL) en français! Le 20 septembre, les kiosques dans les tentes éducationnelles [éducatives] auront des francophones sur place pour vous accueillir. Si disponible, l'information dans les kiosques sera bilingue. Une expérience unique pour nos francophones et francophiles, petits et grands!

Come experience the International Plowing Match & Rural Expo (IPM) in French! On September 20th, the kiosks in the educational tents will have francophones on site to welcome you. If available, the information in the kiosks will be bilingual. A unique experience for our Francophones and Francophiles, young and old!
