BEAUTIFY YOUR COMMUNITY!
Let’s work together to look our best for the 80,000 visitors who will be in West Nipissing for the 2019 IPM!
Scarecrows, scarecrows everywhere! The scarecrow is a key theme for the 2019 IPM. From our event mascot to being featured in a special coloring book, you are sure to see scarecrows at every turn! We encourage you to create something unique with your family, friends and co-workers that can then be used to decorate your property. Special scarecrow making workshops will be held throughout West Nipissing in the coming months so be sure to follow the 2019 IPM on Facebook for details.
Ornamental cabbage? Yes, it’s really a thing! And we’ve decided to make this beautiful, colorful, cold season plant the focus of our gardens and floral décor for a truly Northern IPM. Help show your support by incorporating a few (or a lot) of these gorgeous white and purple flowering botanicals into your landscaping and gardening plans for 2019.
Get your Flag Lines! Green and purple fabric triangle flag lines are being hand cut and sewn by local volunteers and will be sold at various locations throughout West Nipissing beginning in February 2019. These decorative flag lines are comparable to the flag type banners or garlands that are often hung as decorations for birthday parties. Be sure to purchase yours to decorate your home or business and help us show visitors that our community has come together in support of the IPM!
A Trail of Painted Quilts! This project brings quilters, painters and farmers together. Barn quilts consist of painted aluminum signs that are framed together to create 8×8 painted quilts which are then mounted on local barns throughout the community, thus creating a scenic trail for visitors to follow. Our goal is to have our trail featured on http://www.barnquilttrails.ca/ which is a great way to continue a long standing IPM tradition and help drive tourism to West Nipissing.
Community History on Display! A group of volunteers in each town within West Nipissing will create a scarecrow-based display that showcases the history and unique makeup of their community. For example, Verner’s display will feature scarecrows that are using old farm equipment while Field’s scarecrows will be staged as loggers. If you are interested in getting involved in creating your community’s display, please contact Alicia Giroux at 705-594-2503.
