The IPM team responsible for translation, social media and media relations definitely has a special place in their hearts for West Nipissing. Almost all of our volunteers live outside West Nipissing even though they were born and raised in our communities.
Volunteers are not Necessarily People with Lots of Time on their Hands, but Volunteers are Definitely People with Heart!
The IPM team responsible for translation, social media and media relations definitely has a special place in their hearts for West Nipissing. Almost all of our volunteers live outside West Nipissing even though they were born and raised in our communities.
The team responsible for translation is made up of the following volunteers: Liette Michaud originally from Sturgeon Falls has been living in Montreal for more than 40 years, but regularly visits her mother in Sturgeon Falls; Gilles Lafrenière, originally from Verner, has been living in Quebec for almost 40 years, but spends a few weeks every year at the family cottage on Lake Nipissing; Sylvie Primeau, also originally from Sturgeon Falls but has been living in Orléans for more than 30 years, regularly visits her parents in Sturgeon Falls.
In her office, with her computer, Aline Tessier from Hagar is our social media guru. She shares International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM) posts locally, all across Ontario and in some parts of Quebec.
Emelie Keenan (lives in Sturgeon Falls), Mary-Ann Kotylak (recently moved to Sturgeon Falls from Southern Ontario) and Carole Lafrenière-Noël are responsible for media relations. In fact, Carole is the coordinator of this happy bunch. She’s originally from Verner, has a permanent home in Ottawa, but spends 5 months of the year at her cottage in Sturgeon Falls.
Why do we donate our time for the IPM? Because we want to make a difference for West Nipissing and its people. Because that’s where many of us have our roots. Because it’s important that communications be available in both official languages and that our community recognizes itself though IPM communications. Because we love to write and to make new friends. Because we want to fire up enthusiasm for the IPM. Because we want the IPM and West Nipissing to shine throughout Ontario and beyond.
When you think about it, we all win when we give our time for the IPM! If you want to join our group of volunteers register now by clicking on the link below.
